We believe that stringed instruments produced in China now offer the greatest value available.  Lone Star Strings combines the value of this fine handcraftsmanship with a relaxed but knowledgeable approach and promises that anything we do will be done to your complete satisfaction.

While we do not offer the cheapest instruments of a sort that might be found in online auctions, we offer a wide range of instruments geared toward the beginner to college levels. It’s not necessary to spend a great deal for a beginning player, yet it’s nice to know you have something of value that can be traded up as the student progresses. Here are some of the instruments we offer :

 Li Fei 100 Series Outfit- violin, viola - These are perfect instruments for the beginning player.  Their low cost makes them affordable, yet - since they have ebony fingerboards and fittings, proper graduation and arching, well fitted posts and bridges, and quality strings - they’re great sounding instruments.

 Li Fei 200 Series Outfit- violin, viola - These are exceptional values because they have everything more expensive outfits have - setup, flame, tone - at a much more affordable price.  We think these make a great step up instrument for players moving into their first full sized instrument.
 
 Scotti 150 Outfit- violin, viola, cello - 150’s, made by Scott Cao Violins, have tone that  is comparable to that of the more expensive 017.  They’re hand made and hand varnished with  lightly flamed maple, boxwood fittings, and, with Scott’s reputation, you know it’s an instrument you can trust.
 Scott Cao Violins 017 Outfit - violin, viola, cello -For years, the 017’s have been Scott’s best selling line. The level of workmanship and tone these have is usually not found at this price range. They have a quality setup with premium strings and are suited to advancing players regardless of age.

 Dynasty Jade Series Outfit- violin, viola, cello - Dynasty is another maker who is doing things right.  These instruments are bright and responsive and the care that goes into their construction is obvious. We think these are a great choice in the $500.00 range (violin).

 Dynasty Pearl Series-violin, viola, cello - Using somewhat better woods and somewhat finer graduations than that of the Jade line, Pearl Series instruments offer a step up in tone and appearance, yet still have the responsiveness characteristic of Dynasty’s instruments.

Scott Cao Violins 750 - violin, viola, cello - 750’s are Scott’s lowest priced of the ‘Artistic Series’. These are copies of famous instruments made by the Italian masters like Stradivari and del Gesu.  Each model has its own unique characteristics so you can choose the tone quality you prefer.

Scott Cao Violins 850 - violin, viola - Also part of the ‘Artistic Series’, these are made with European tonewoods.  They tend to sound a bit brighter and project a bit more than the 750’s. These are often used by professionals as a second, less expensive instrument or by college level players.
